This year again, all KRASO Group companies – KRASO, KRASO Wood, KRASO Services, and Hagmans Nordic – have been awarded the “A” taxpayer rating by the State Revenue Service of Latvia (VID). It’s a clear recognition of our financial stability, professional standards, and principled approach to doing business.

Responsible leadership sets the tone

The daily work at KRASO Group is carried out by our talented specialists, but it’s the owners and leaders who define the principles that shape how this work is done. Their approach to transparency and integrity influences the entire company culture. After receiving the rating and letters of recognition from VID, we asked the shareholders of KRASO Group: Why do you believe it’s important for companies to pay taxes honestly and on time?

“A company in Latvia must operate honestly – toward its employees and toward the state.”

If a business can only survive by evading taxes, it’s not a real business and it has no future. Of course, I’d also like to see the state treat tax revenue like a responsible owner – that would motivate more businesses to do the right thing,” says Juris Robežs.

Kristians Gabaliņš adds: “I fully agree with Juris, and I’d also like to highlight the wider benefit to society. It’s the government’s responsibility to provide access to quality healthcare, education, social and physical safety, and a shared cultural identity.

If we want Latvia to grow sustainably and remain a prosperous society, then as business owners we must carry out our core duty – to act responsibly, pay taxes, and stay out of the shadow economy.

It’s from those taxes that our health, education, safety, and cultural systems are funded – the things that ensure public well-being.

Paying taxes is a matter of honour and duty for a responsible entrepreneur. For us, it’s clear – responsibility is one of KRASO’s five core values.”

Uldis Slicāns joins in: “Juris and Kristians have already summed up the essentials – thank you to both. From my side, I’ll just add that for me as a CEO, paying taxes honestly is common sense. It’s not just a matter of principle, it’s also smart risk management – no fines, no nasty surprises. Our finances stay clean and structured, so we can make decisions calmly and with confidence.

And yes, banks and business partners do value that kind of stability.”

Looking ahead

We’ve earned this rating several years in a row – and that’s no coincidence. It’s the result of consistent work, transparent business practices, and long-term thinking. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team and the partners who trust and grow with us. We remain committed to being a reliable, responsible, and professional Latvian company.
