Description

ADLER Lignovit Interior UV 100 Interior Wood Stain with Advanced UV Protection for Softwoods

Preserve the Natural Beauty of Light Woods with a Professional-Grade, Anti-Yellowing UV Protection Stain.

  • Advanced UV Protection: Formulated with highly effective light stabilizers that absorb UV radiation and stabilize the wood’s lignin, preventing the yellowing or graying of light softwoods over the long term.
  • Certified for Healthy Interiors: Awarded the Austrian Ecolabel and French A+ for very low emissions, this water-based, solvent-free stain guarantees a healthy indoor climate, making it ideal for residential and commercial projects.
  • Optimized for Softwoods: Specifically developed for interior fir and spruce, its thin-film, breathable formula enhances the natural character of the wood without creating a plastic-like layer, ensuring a matte, authentic finish.
  • Efficient & Rapid Application: Ready-to-use formulation allows for fast application by brush or spray, with a dust-dry time of just 30 minutes and recoatable in approximately 1 hour, significantly accelerating project timelines.

Modern architecture’s embrace of expansive glass fronts and panoramic windows brings abundant natural light, enhancing quality of life. This design philosophy pairs perfectly with the warm, natural aesthetic of light-colored wood. However, this combination presents a significant challenge: UV radiation causes light woods to yellow, fade, or grey over time, compromising the intended design.

ADLER Lignovit Interior UV 100 is the definitive solution to this problem. This professional-grade interior wood stain acts as a protective shield, or a ‘sunscreen for wood,’ neutralizing the damaging effects of UV light. It allows architects, builders, and designers to confidently specify light softwoods for interiors without sacrificing the benefits of generous natural light. The integrity of the architectural vision is preserved, ensuring the wood remains beautiful for years to come.

Engineered to work with the unique properties of different species, Lignovit Interior UV 100 is available in specific light-toned shades like ‘Tanne’, ‘Montblanc’, and ‘Großglockner’. These variants contain specialized pigments and highly effective light-stabilizing agents that protect the lignin within the wood. The result is a durable, breathable finish that contributes to a healthy indoor environment while maintaining the wood’s authentic, natural appearance. With Lignovit Interior UV 100, the desire for light-filled spaces and the enduring beauty of natural wood are no longer a contradiction.

How-To Steps

  1. Substrate Preparation: Ensure the wood surface is dry, clean, stable, and free from separating substances like grease, wax, silicone, and resin. Sand smooth surfaces in the grain direction with 120-grit sandpaper. Thoroughly remove all wood dust. Round sharp edges.
  2. Application Conditions: The product, object, and ambient temperature must be at least +10°C. Optimal conditions are between 15-25°C with a relative humidity of 40-80%. Stir the product thoroughly before use, avoiding air entrapment.
  3. Coating Application: Apply one even coat of Lignovit Interior UV 100. For projects requiring a second coat, allow the first to dry completely (approx. 1 hour). If necessary, perform a light intermediate sanding with 240-280 grit sandpaper and remove all dust before applying the final coat.
  4. Tool Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use. For dried-on residue, use ADLER Aqua-Cleaner (8029) diluted 1:1 with water.

Recommendations

Not suitable for colored hardwoods like Meranti and Mahogany. For old or steamed woods, we recommend alternative ADLER products such as Innenlasur (5309) or Legno-Aqua-Öl (7030). To prevent warping, an all-round coating on all sides of new wooden components is recommended. Always create a test sample on the original substrate to verify the final color and finish before full application.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Lignovit Interior UV 100 prevent wood from yellowing?

It contains special, highly effective UV light absorbers that neutralize UV radiation and stabilize the wood’s lignin component, which is primarily responsible for color changes like yellowing and graying in light-colored softwoods.

Can this product be used on interior wood flooring?

No, Lignovit Interior UV 100 is specifically designed for non-mechanical stress surfaces such as interior wall and ceiling paneling. It is not formulated to withstand the abrasion and wear associated with flooring.

Is this stain suitable for certified green building projects?

Yes. With its water-based formula, extremely low VOC content (max 20 g/l), Austrian Ecolabel, and French A+ emission rating, it is an excellent choice for projects requiring high standards for indoor air quality and environmental compatibility.

Why are there specific color tones like ‘Tanne’ instead of just a clear version?

The light pigmentation in tones like ‘Tanne’ (Fir) and ‘Großglockner’ works in synergy with the UV absorbers to provide maximum, long-lasting protection against color changes, ensuring the most natural appearance for specific wood types.
