Usage
Before Painting
Read the instructions on the paint can carefully. Using the right tools and preparing the surface well are key for good results. Stir the paint from the bottom before you start. Only paint if the air and surface are above +5°C. The surface should be clean, dry, and solid, with no more than 16% moisture. Don’t paint in direct sun, if rain is expected in the next 24 hours, or if dew might form within 1-2 hours after painting. Old linseed oil or linseed oil paint can cause blisters. If untreated wood has been outside for more than 4 weeks, wash and disinfect it, remove any loose gray fibers, and prime with Hagmans Utegrund Kombi. Clean previously painted surfaces with the right products and let them dry fully. If there’s fungus or algae, use Hagmans Algtvätt. Scrape or brush off loose paint and wood fibers, and prime clean wood.
Painting
Use a good brush to apply Hagmans Window Paint, making sure to work it into the surface. For better results, use two thin coats instead of one thick coat. You can also use a roller, but finish with a brush. If you spray, thin the paint with 5-10% water and finish with a brush. Don’t close the window fully until the paint is dry. To stop the window from sticking, put a matchstick between the sash and frame for the first few days.
After Painting
Let your painting tools dry before washing them with water. Close the paint can tightly after use and keep it away from children. Don’t pour leftover paint down the drain—take it to your local environmental station.
Maintenance
Clean painted surfaces with Hagmans Maintenance Wash. Don’t use alcohol-based cleaners on paint or varnish.
