Usage

Surface Preparation:

• Raw Wood: Sand the wood surface with 80-120 grit sandpaper along the grain. Clean thoroughly, removing wood extracts (e.g., resin pockets). Round off sharp edges and corners.
• Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove loose, old, porous, or degraded wood using a brush or scraper. Wash the surface with a suitable cleaner or water if necessary. Treat black mould or algae stains with an anti-mold disinfectant, then rinse and allow to dry completely.
• Ensure the surface is clean and dry, with wood moisture content below 18%. Air, surface, and material temperature must be above +5°C, and relative humidity below 70% during application and drying.

Application:

• Stir thoroughly before use.
• For the first priming layer, W-GARD Cover 10 can be thinned with water to a maximum of 10%.
• Apply the second coat undiluted.
• Achieve a total dry film thickness over 80 µm for long-term durability (e.g., two coats of 40 µm each).
• Avoid applying to hot or sunlit surfaces.
• Recoat after 2-4 hours, ensuring the previous layer is dry. Drying times vary with film thickness, humidity, temperature, and colour.

Storage & Transportation:

• Store in a dry, cool place in the original, unopened packaging. Protect from frost. Shelf life is 2 years from the manufacture date.
