The old pavement looks like new today. Renew it yourself with Tikkurila Patio Kivikuullote!

Have you long wanted to improve your paving? Maybe your neighbor’s yard is brighter and looks better!

You can easily and quickly renovate old concrete paving and slabs in your yard in just a few steps. Tikkurila Patio Kivikuullote is a paving stain especially suitable for this purpose.

When the surface is resurfaced with this product, the pavement will be restored, and the original color of the pavement will be evened out. You can add other colors because Patio Kivikuullote is tintable in 10 shades.

Follow these four key conditions for a simple and beautiful restoration of old pavements:

  • 1. PREPARE THE SURFACE CORRECTLY

Assess the current condition of the pavement. Thoroughly remove dirt, dust, moss, and lichens from the pavement. It is highly recommended that you wash the pavement with a pressure washer.
If the pavement is filthy and aged, we recommend using Tikkurila Tehopesu detergent and following the instructions.
If the paving stones or slabs are relatively new, a turbo nozzle or a sufficiently strong pressure washer should be used to ensure surface absorption.

  • 2. APPLY THE TEST

We recommend that you carry out a test coloring to check the actual color shade and the new look of the pavement. This way, you will see the color shade on the surface and the most suitable application technique.

  • 3. WORK PROCESS

Remember that the surface to be treated must be dry! During application and drying, the air, surface, and product temperature must be above +5 ºC and the relative humidity below 80%.

  • Mix the product thoroughly before use. For the first round, dilute the to 50% (2 parts PATIO KIVIKUULLOTE/1 part water).
  • Apply the finish evenly, without breaks, to avoid overlapping. Thick layers should be avoided.
  • Apply the paving mix once or twice with a brush, roller, or spray. When using a backpack-type sprayer, the application should be completed with a roller or brush if necessary to ensure that the stain is absorbed into the surface’s pores.
  • Clean tools with water after use.
  • Consumption 4-8 m2/l applied in one coat on concrete paving or slab (depending on the absorbency of the surface).
  • IMPORTANT! You can walk after a few hours.

If you want to paint untinted (grey concrete) paving stones and slabs:

Choose the desired shade from the Patio Kivikuullote shade card. Depending on the absorbency of the surface to be painted and the desired result, 1-2 coats should be applied. A diluted stain is recommended for the first coat if several coats are applied. For best results, two coats are recommended.

If you want to paint industrially tinted paving stones and slabs:

The shade chosen should be as similar as possible to the paving stones. Depending on the absorption capacity of the surface to be painted and the desired result, 1-2 coats should be applied. One coat is usually sufficient.

4. BEAUTIFUL PAVEMENT YEAR AFTER YEAR

Pavers and paving slabs are constantly exposed to the weather and subject to heavy mechanical stresses, so they need repainting year after year to maintain a fresh look.

Reserve enough stains from one production batch for the entire surface to avoid possible tonal variations and ensure an even surface.
Please note! When paving stones or slabs of different ages are treated, their shade may vary. Various types of dirt, such as engine oil or crystallized salts, can affect the shade.

However, PATIO KIVIKUULLOTE is not recommended for new garden paving or surfaces with insufficient absorption capacity, such as washed concrete or natural stone.
