How-To Steps

1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Wood moisture content should be 18-20%. Sand new wood surfaces with 80-120 grit sandpaper along the grain. Remove all dust. Treat any mould or algae with a suitable anti-mould disinfectant and rinse thoroughly.
2. Application Conditions: Apply only when the air, surface, and material temperatures are above +5°C and the relative humidity is below 70%.
3. Stirring and Thinning: Stir the product well before use. The product is ready to use but can be thinned with water up to 5-10% if necessary for specific application equipment.
4. Application as Primer: Apply one even coat at a rate of 75-120 g/m² to achieve a dry film thickness of 5-10 µm.
5. Application as Topcoat: Apply two coats at a rate of 75-120 g/m² per coat, achieving a total dry film thickness of 10-20 µm. Avoid application on hot or sunlit surfaces.
6. Drying and Recoating: Allow the surface to dry before applying the next layer. Recoating is possible after 1-2 hours at +20°C. Drying times vary based on film thickness, temperature, humidity, and colour shade.

Recommendations

Not recommended for finishing horizontal surfaces subject to mechanical stress, such as terraces or exterior floorings. For the most durable system, use one coat of W-GARD Wood Stain as a primer, followed by two coats of W-GARD Cover 30. Store in a dry, cool, frost-free place in its original, unopened packaging. Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
