Svensk Grå Slamfärg – Swedish Grey Paint for Wooden Facades, Enriched with Linseed Oil
Description
Svensk Grå Slamfärg – Swedish grey paint for wooden facades, with liner and anti-mould protection.
Svensk Grå Slamfärg is a high-quality, traditional Swedish protective paint for wooden facades designed to give your wooden buildings lasting beauty and protection. It is formulated with a classic formula enhanced with natural linseed oil, giving the surface an elegant, fully matt grey shade (closest NCS paint shade: S 5000-N) and allowing the wood to “breathe.”
With today’s changing climatic conditions, with summers becoming wetter and autumn/winter periods warmer and wetter, wood surfaces are at risk of mould and algae growth. Svensk Grå Slamfärg contains specially formulated ingredients and is produced using modern techniques that provide excellent protection against the development of these unwanted organisms and guarantee good coverage and longevity of the paint.

Uses:
Svensk Grå Slamfärg is suitable for exterior work, painting new, unsealed wooden surfaces, or refinishing surfaces previously painted with Swedish-type paint. It is not suitable for planed surfaces or surfaces painted with other types of paint (e.g., oil or acrylic paints).
-
Surface preparation:
-
Use a brush or scraper to clean the surface of dust, dirt, and old paint flakes. A pressure washer can also be used, but the surface must be allowed to dry completely afterward.
-
Rinse off dust thoroughly, e.g., with a garden hose. The moisture content of the wood at the time of painting should not exceed 15-17%.
-
If there is a risk of mould, treat the surface with an anti-mould agent before painting.
-
-
Painting:
-
Mix the paint thoroughly before use.
-
Dilute the paint with approximately 10% water.
-
Apply the paint in a thin, even layer, from top to bottom.
-
New, untreated wood: Apply two coats of paint. Allow the first coat to dry for at least 24 hours before applying the second coat.
Surfaces previously painted with Swedish-type paint: One coat is usually sufficient.
-
-
Painting should occur when the air, surface, and paint temperatures are above +5°C and the relative humidity is below 80%. Avoid painting in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.
-
-
Additional recommendations:
-
Use coating materials to thoroughly cover all surfaces not intended to be painted (e.g., foundations, windows, gutters).
-
The paint may initially adhere less well in areas around nail heads, branches, and resinous regions. To improve adhesion, these areas can be lightly treated with coarse sandpaper.
-
After painting, leave the covering materials for a few days. In heavy rain, freshly applied paint may run off and stain the foundation or plinth.
-
Ageing and maintenance:
Svensk Grå Slamfärg ages naturally and elegantly. Over time, the binder becomes weaker, and the pigment particles begin to detach from the surface. This happens gradually, without forming unsightly flakes or cracks. When it is time to renew the colour (usually after 5-6 years, depending on conditions), the old layer of paint can be brushed off, and the surface is ready for a new coat of paint without scraping. Importantly, repainting too early can build up too thick layers, increasing the risk of peeling.
