Usage

Surface Preparation:

• On ZINGA: Ensure the surface is free of zinc salts and contaminants. Apply Alu ZM within 24 hours of ZINGA application. If longer, steam clean (140 bar, 80°C) or sweep blast the ZINGA surface.
• On HDG (Hot-Dip Galvanized): Surface must be free from rust, grease, oil, paint, salt, dirt, and mill scale. Clean via steam cleaning, HP washing, or solvent cleaning. Roughen the surface by blasting with wet inert product, using Scotch Brite, a bristle blaster, or a nylon brush.
• Maximum Waiting Time: Apply as soon as possible. Max 24 hours in dry conditions; max 4 hours if relative humidity is near 80%. Re-clean if contamination occurs.

Environmental Conditions During Application:

• Ambient Temperature: Minimum -15°C, Maximum 40°C
• Relative Humidity: Maximum 95%. Do not apply on damp or wet surfaces.
• Surface Temperature: Minimum 3°C above dew point, no visible water or ice. Maximum 60°C.
• Product Temperature: Maintain liquid temperature between 15°C and 25°C for optimal film smoothness.

Application Instructions:

• General: Apply on a clean surface by brush, conventional spray-gun, or airless spraying. Always treat corners, sharp edges, bolts, and nuts with a stripe coat before uniform application. Thoroughly mechanically stir Alu ZM until homogeneous before application; re-mix every 20 minutes. Clean equipment with Zingasolv.
• By Brush: Alu ZM is ready for use. For best results, dilute 3-5% with Zingasolv. Apply the first layer after ZINGA is sufficiently dry (4 hours after touch dry). Use an industrial round brush.
• By Conventional Spray-Gun: Dilute 10-20% (mass on mass) with Zingasolv. Pressure at nozzle: 2-4 bar. Nozzle opening: 1.4-1.8 mm.
• By Airless Spraying: Dilute 5-10% (mass on mass) with Zingasolv. Pressure at nozzle: ± 150 bar. Nozzle opening: 0.017-0.031 inch (0.015-0.025 inch for smoother finish).

Recommended Systems:

• Unique System: Apply Alu ZM on old hot-dipped or metallized structures in 1 or 2 layers (1-2 x 60 µm DFT). Do not apply more than 60 µm DFT in a single layer to avoid solvent entrapment.
• Duplex System: Apply 1 single layer of Alu ZM (40-60 µm DFT) over a ZINGA layer (1-2 x 60-80 µm DFT).
