Technical Features and Applications:

Pre-treatment / Wash (Träskydd Kisel – Tvätt):
This initial step prepares the wood surface for optimal impregnation.

• Application Area: Specifically designed for pressure-treated wood.
• Base: Silicate.
• Volume Solids: 5%.
• Density: 1.02 kg/L .
• Recoat Time: 12 hours.
• Material Consumption: 5-10 m²/liter.
• Application Temperature (Air/Surface): Minimum 7°C.

Impregnation (Träskydd Kisel – Impregnering):
This second step provides the deep, long-lasting protection and contributes to the silver-gray patina.

• Application Area: Specifically designed for pressure-treated wood.
• Binder: Sodium/Potassium Silicate.
• Density: 1.10 kg/L .
• Dust Dry: 1 hour.
• Recoat Time: 2-4 hours.
• Material Consumption (2 Coats): 5-6 m²/liter.
• Application Temperature (Air/Surface): Minimum 7°C.

Application Process:

Preparation:
Both new and previously untreated wood can be treated with TRÄSKYDD KISEL. Ensure the wood is completely dry; new pressure-treated wood may require several months to dry thoroughly. For an exceptionally smooth finish, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper before applying the treatment.

Applying Träskydd Kisel – Tvätt (Wash):
Apply generously and swiftly with a brush or roller. Allow the solution to penetrate the surface for a few minutes. Then, scrub the surface to remove any loosened dirt. Use a coarse brush or a high-pressure washer with a scrubbing nozzle suitable for decks. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and allow it to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.

Applying Träskydd Kisel – Impregnering (Impregnation):
Apply generously with a brush or roller in two coats, ensuring a minimum of two hours drying time between coats. Allow the surface to dry for at least 4 hours after the second application before foot traffic. Following treatment, the surface will initially have an uneven, mottled appearance. Under the influence of weather and sunlight, this will gradually transform into a beautiful, smooth surface with a light, silvery hue through a chemical process. This process can be partially accelerated by brushing the surface with water. The stunning silver-gray finish will develop gradually over 1-3 months, influenced by sunlight. Please note that if the product is used indoors or on enclosed surfaces (e.g., glazed areas), the color will not develop correctly. All traces of old wood oil must be removed entirely before treating such surfaces. After treatment with Träskydd Kisel – Impregnering, you will have a finished surface with a beautiful appearance and exceptional resistance to mold and fungi.

Maintenance:
It is recommended to wash your deck every spring to remove dirt and leaf debris accumulated during autumn and winter. Träskydd Kisel – Tvätt is excellent for maintenance washing. This silicate-based product will help extend the lifespan of your decking.

Environmental Considerations:
TRÄSKYDD KISEL is corrosive to glass, so any surfaces that may be exposed to splashes or similar should be covered before commencing work. Always protect your eyes and wear protective gloves during application. While TRÄSKYDD KISEL is non-toxic, liquid paint residues should not be poured down drains but instead disposed of at a local waste disposal station.
