Svensk Svart Slamfärg – Swedish Black Paint for Wood Facades, Enriched with Linseed Oil
Description
Svensk Svart Slamfärg – Quality Swedish Black Paint for wooden facades, enriched with Linseed Oil.
Svensk Svart Slamfärg, Swedish Black Paint, is a traditional, water-based paint for wooden facades, developed according to a classic Swedish recipe and additionally enriched with linseed oil. This paint not only provides a beautiful, completely matt black finish (approximate NCS shade: S 8500-N) but also effective and natural wood protection. It is ideal for painting new, unsealed wood surfaces or refinishing facades previously treated with Swedish-type paint.
Why choose Svensk Svart Slamfärg?
- Tradition and modernity: The paint combines old Swedish traditions with modern production methods, ensuring excellent performance and longevity.
- Breathable surface: Svensk Svart Slamfärg forms a coating that allows the wood to “breathe”. This means that moisture can escape freely from the wood, minimising the risk of rot and extending the life of the facade.
- Effective protection: thanks to specially developed ingredients and the addition of linseed oil, the paint protects against mould and algae, which is particularly relevant in changing climatic conditions.
- Environmentally friendly: The product’s VOC content is 0 g/l, which meets the highest ecological standards (EU standard Cat A/d: 130 g/l in 2010).
- Aesthetic appearance and easy maintenance: The paint produces an elegant, fully matt finish. As it ages, the pigment separates gradually, without flaking or cracking. Renewal is easy – scrub the surface before applying a new coat.
Technical characteristics:
- Colour: Black (approximate NCS: S 8500-N)
- Bonding agent: Wheat flour cluster reinforced with linseed oil
- Anti-mould additive: Yes
- Dissolving: With water, approx. 10% (1 litre of water per bucket of paint)
- Application: With a brush (e.g., Swedish paint brush or facade brush)
- Consumption: Approximately 3 m²/litre per coat
- Drying time (at +23°C and 50% relative humidity): The surface is dry after approximately 1 hour. It is repaintable after approximately 24 hours.
- Gloss: Fully matt
- Cleaning tools: With water and soap/detergent
- Fire hazard: Not a flammable product
- Storage: Keep away from frost, store in a cool place.
Application:
Svensk Svart Slamfärg is suitable for exterior work, painting new, unsealed wooden surfaces, or refinishing surfaces previously painted with Swedish-type paint. It is not suitable for planed surfaces or surfaces painted with other types of paint (e.g., oil or acrylic paints).
-
Surface preparation:
-
Use a brush or scraper to clean the surface of dust, dirt, and old paint flakes. A pressure washer can also be used, but the surface must be allowed to dry completely afterward.
-
Rinse off dust thoroughly, e.g., with a garden hose. The moisture content of the wood at the time of painting should not exceed 15-17%.
-
If there is a risk of mould, treat the surface with an anti-mould agent before painting.
-
-
Painting:
-
Mix the paint thoroughly before use.
-
Dilute the paint with approximately 10% water.
-
Apply the paint in a thin, even layer, from top to bottom.
-
New, untreated wood: Apply two coats of paint. Allow the first coat to dry for at least 24 hours before applying the second coat.
Surfaces previously painted with Swedish-type paint: One coat is usually sufficient.
-
-
Painting should be carried out when the air, surface and paint temperatures are above +5°C and the relative humidity is below 80%. Avoid painting in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.
-
-
Additional recommendations:
-
Use coating materials to thoroughly cover all surfaces not intended to be painted (e.g., foundations, windows, gutters).
-
In areas around nail heads, branches and resinous areas, the paint may initially adhere less well. These areas can be lightly treated with coarse sandpaper to improve adhesion.
-
After painting, leave the covering materials for a few days. In heavy rain, freshly applied paint may run off and stain the foundation or plinth.
-
Ageing and maintenance:
Svensk Svart Slamfärg ages naturally and elegantly. Over time, the binder becomes weaker, and the pigment particles begin to detach from the surface. This happens gradually, without forming unsightly flakes or cracks. When it is time to renew the colour (usually after 5-6 years, depending on conditions), the old layer of paint can be brushed off and the surface is ready for a new coat of paint without scraping. Importantly, repainting too early can build up layers that are too thick, increasing the risk of peeling.
