Tikkurila Kiva 10 Furniture Varnish is a high-quality, matt, water-based acrylic varnish for interior use. This versatile varnish is designed to provide excellent surface protection and an aesthetic appearance for furniture and other wood surfaces. Tikkurila Kiva 10 is the ideal choice if you are looking for a long-lasting and reliable solution for your home or office interior.

Product Features :

• Non-Gilding Formula: This formula ensures that the lacquered surface retains its original shade over time and does not lose its aesthetic appeal.
• Tintable: Tikkurila Kiva 10 is tintable, allowing you to adapt its shade to your interior design using Tikkurila’s wood stain and varnish shade cards, including the Timeless translucent shade card.
• Water-Based: This varnish is water-based, making it more environmentally friendly and less smelly than solvent varnishes.
• Matte Gloss: Gives surfaces a modern, elegant matt finish.
• Versatile: Suitable for a wide range of interior wood surfaces.
• Chemical Resistance: The varnish is resistant to cleaning agents, weak solvents (e.g., white spirit), and oils and greases. However, coffee and tea stains should be cleaned immediately.
• Fast Drying: Dust does not stick after about 1/2 hour, and the surface can be sanded and another coat applied after 2-3 hours. The surface is ready for use the next day and reaches full hardness in about 2 weeks.

Recommended Use :

Tikkurila Kiva 10 is ideal for varnishing various furniture elements such as :

• Tables and chairs.
• Bookshelves.
• Toys.
• Wood panelling and wooden ceilings.
• Doors and other wooden surfaces.

It can also be a protective varnish for stained wood surfaces, giving them extra strength and beauty.
Not suitable for floors. We recommend Tikkurila Parketti-Ässä varnish for floors.

Application Instructions :

1. Application Conditions: The surface must be dry, with a temperature of +10 °C and a relative humidity of 30-80%.

2. Surface Preparation :

   • New wood surface: Clean of dirt and dust. Lightly dampen the raised wood grain with water, dry it, and sand it. Clean off sanding dust.

   • Pre-varnished wood: Wash with Maalipes detergent, rinse thoroughly, and sand lightly to a matt finish. Remove damaged coating with paint stripper or by sanding. Then treat it as a new wood surface.

3. Varnishing: Mix the varnish thoroughly before and during application. If necessary, dilute with water. Apply 2-3 times with a brush, sponge, or spray. Test the tinted product on a piece of wood. For the first coat, apply 20-30% diluted tinted product. Optimum shade and gloss are usually achieved after two coats. For large surfaces, treat several boards at the same time to ensure an even shade.
4. Cleaning of tools: Wash tools with water after use. Tikkurila Pensselipes is recommended for cleaning hardened varnish.
5. Surface Care: The surface may not be cleaned until two weeks after varnishing. It can be cleaned easily with a soft brush, sponge, or rag and a neutral (pH 6-8) cleaning agent. Do not allow the surface to remain wet. Filthy surfaces can be cleaned with a mild (pH 8-10) detergent, rinsing thoroughly with water.
6. Repair painting: Use the same water-based varnish to repair the varnished surface.

Environmental Protection and Waste Collection:

Liquid waste should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations on hazardous waste disposal. Following local regulatory requirements, empty, dry containers should be recycled or disposed of.

Health and Safety Labelling under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008:

Use protective gloves. Contains: 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one (BIT) and reaction mass: 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one, 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (3:1) (C(M)IT/MIT (3:1)). May cause allergic reaction. This product contains a biocidal product to preserve it during storage.
