Transform and protect your outdoor wood with Auson Pine Tar Oil in Forest Brown. This premium, thin-bodied wood oil adds a touch of nature’s elegance to your home, offering a beautiful, semi-opaque finish that lets the wood’s unique texture shine through.

Inspired by the deep, earthy tones of the forest, this pigmented tar oil is crafted from genuine pine tar—nature’s own wood preservative. It penetrates deep into the timber, preventing cracking and degradation caused by moisture and sun. It’s the perfect choice for giving your wooden facade, deck, or garden furniture a new lease on life with a rich, durable color.

Unlike surface-level paints, our Pine Tar Oil works with the wood, nourishing it from within. The result is a finish that not only looks stunning but also provides robust protection against the elements. Easy to apply and maintain, it’s the ideal solution for any DIY enthusiast looking to achieve a professional-quality, long-lasting finish on outdoor wood projects.

How-To Steps

For best results, apply in warm weather (at least 10°C).

1. Ensure the wood surface is clean and dry. Brush off any dust, dirt, algae, or mould.

2. Stir the oil thoroughly before and during application.

3. Apply a thin, even coat using a brush, roller, or paint sprayer.

4. Wipe off any excess oil that has not penetrated the wood after about 30 minutes with a rag soaked in turpentine.

Recommendations

Apply to untreated wood or wood previously treated with oil. Do not apply over solid color finishes. Ensure good ventilation during application. The initial strong scent of tar will subside after a few days. For new, planed wood, waiting 1-2 years before treatment can improve penetration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the strong smell of pine tar last?

The distinct smell of pine tar is most potent for the first few days after application. It will gradually subside and become barely noticeable after about a month.

Can I use this oil on my new pressure-treated wooden deck?

Yes, but for newly planed or pressure-impregnated timber, which can have poorer penetration, we recommend waiting 1-2 years before applying the pine tar oil to allow the wood to weather and become more absorbent.

Is one coat enough for my project?

For most applications, like facades or furniture, one coat is sufficient. For decks, which experience more wear, an additional layer can be applied for enhanced durability.

What should I use to clean my brushes after application?

You can clean your brushes and tools with Gum Turpentine, Denatured Alcohol, or a strong soap-and-water solution.
