Description

Auson Unpigmented Pine Tar Oil | Natural Wood Protector for Decks, Facades & Garden Furniture

Protect and preserve your outdoor wood naturally with Auson’s deep-penetrating Pine Tar Oil.

  • Deep Wood Protection: Penetrates deep into the wood grain, nourishing from within to prevent drying, splitting, and cracking caused by weather.
  • Natural & Flexible Finish: Creates a beautiful, non-flaking surface that moves with the wood’s natural expansion, ensuring the finish won’t peel or turn black over time.
  • All-Weather Defence: Delivers superior water resistance and UV protection, shielding your timber from moisture, rot, and sun damage all year round.
  • Versatile Application: Perfect for all your outdoor projects, including house facades, wooden decks, patios, garden furniture, and boat docks.

Give your outdoor wood the protection it deserves with Auson Unpigmented Pine Tar Oil. Wood is a beautiful, living material, but it needs defending against the harsh European climate. Our pine tar oil uses the power of nature—the same resins and terpenes trees use to heal themselves—to provide a robust shield for your timber.

This thin-bodied oil seeps deep into the wood, preventing it from drying out and cracking. It creates a water-resistant barrier that protects against moisture and temperature changes, while also shielding the surface from damaging UV rays. Unlike synthetic coatings that can flake and trap moisture, our Pine Tar Oil works with the wood, allowing it to breathe and move naturally.

Perfect for your weekend DIY projects, you can use it to rejuvenate a weathered deck, protect your new garden furniture, or preserve the natural beauty of your home’s facade. The initial strong tar scent fades within a few days, leaving behind a classic, subtle aroma and long-lasting protection. Invest in a traditional, proven solution and keep your outdoor wood looking its best for years to come.

How-To Steps

For best results, apply in warm weather (at least 10°C) to ensure the oil is workable and penetrates well. Stir thoroughly before use. First, ensure the wood surface is clean and dry by brushing off dust and washing away any algae or mould. Apply the oil with a brush, roller, or sprayer. Wipe off any excess oil with a rag soaked in turpentine. Allow the surface to dry completely; you can walk on it once the oil has fully penetrated the wood.

Recommendations

Apply the first coat to new, untreated wood as soon as possible for maximum protection. For newly planed or pressure-impregnated lumber, which may have poorer penetration, we recommend applying a thin coat or waiting 1-2 years before complete treatment. Do not apply over wood previously treated with solid color finishes. Ensure good ventilation during and after application.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the strong pine tar smell last?

The pronounced tar smell subsides after a few days of application. After a month, the scent is barely noticeable, leaving only a faint, pleasant woody aroma.

Can I use this oil on my new pressure-treated deck?

Yes, but pressure-impregnated timber can have poor initial penetration. For best results, we recommend either applying a skinny first coat or waiting 1-2 years for the wood to weather before applying the Pine Tar Oil.

What color will my wood become after application?

The oil initially gives the wood a golden/light gray color. Over a few months of exposure to UV rays and weather, the wood will gradually return to its natural hue while the protective properties remain.

Does this product flake or peel off over time?

No, Auson Pine Tar Oil is not a surface coating. It penetrates the wood, so it will not peel, flake, or turn black. It fades naturally over time.
