How-To Steps

1. Surface Preparation: Remove oil, grease, salts, and dirt (ISO 12944-4). For steel surfaces, blast clean to at least grade Sa2 (ISO 8501-1). For minor damage or when blast cleaning is not possible, tool cleaning to St2. Phosphating is recommended for cold-rolled steel to improve adhesion.
2. Application Conditions: Ensure surface is clean, dry, and free from contamination. Ambient air, surface, and paint temperature must be above +5°C. Relative humidity should not exceed 80%. The steel surface temperature must remain at least 3°C above the dew point.
3. Mixing and Thinning: Stir the product carefully before use. For airless spraying, thin approximately 0–13% with Thinner 1053 or 1006. For brush application, thin as required with Thinner 1006 or 1053 (slow).
4. Application: For airless spray, use a nozzle tip of 0.011″–0.015″ and a pressure of 120–180 bar. Choose a spray angle based on the object’s shape. It can also be applied by brush.
5. Cleaning of Equipment: Clean tools immediately after use with Thinner 1006.

Recommendations

For a complete protective system, use with recommended topcoats such as Temalac AB 70, Temalac FD series, or Fontelac QD 80. Avoid applying excessive film thickness, as it can cause cracking, sagging, and prolonged drying time. All painting work should be performed and supervised in accordance with ISO 12944-7 unless otherwise specified.
