Usage

Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, sound, and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, wax, mildew, or any contaminants that may hinder adhesion. Remove all loose or peeling coatings. Lightly sand exposed exterior wood (80-100 grit) to remove weathered fibers. Wash stained areas thoroughly to remove as much stain as possible, then allow to dry completely. Countersink nail heads, spot-prime, and fill all holes. Wire brush rusty areas. For knots and sap streaks, spot prime with B-I-N Primer-Sealer before full application of Cover Stain.

Directions for Use: Shake or stir well before use. Typically, one coat is sufficient. A second coat may be necessary for very porous substrates. Spot priming is recommended only for high-hiding topcoats. For best results, prime the entire surface. Allow the product to reach room temperature before application. Use in a well-ventilated area, avoiding high humidity.

Application Conditions: Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 5°C and 32°C, and humidity is below 85%. Note that these conditions directly influence drying times.

Application & Thinning: COVER STAIN is designed for use without thinning. Apply with a natural or synthetic-bristle brush or a roller. For airless spray, use a 0.015” to 0.017” tip at 1800 to 2200 P.S.I. and follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

Cleaning: Clean spills and drips immediately with a rag soaked in mineral spirits or paint thinner. Dried spills may require paint remover. Clean application tools by rinsing repeatedly in mineral spirits or paint thinner until clear.

Tinting: Standard white Cover Stain can be tinted to off-white and pastel shades by adding up to 60 ml of solvent-based colorants per 5 liters. Deep Tint can be tinted to mid to dark tones by adding up to 250 ml per 5 liters.

Limitations: Not intended for floors, decks, roof surfaces, or any areas subject to immersion or prolonged contact with water.
