Usage

Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry (or damp), and free of dirt, grease, oil, and contaminants. New masonry must cure for at least 30 days. Remove efflorescence (white powdery deposits) with hydrochloric acid or concrete etching compound, then rinse thoroughly. Remove all existing mould and mildew using a bleach solution (1 teacup of household bleach per litre of water) or a mildew cleaner. For previously painted, non-glossy surfaces, remove as much old coating as possible by scraping or wire brushing. Patch all holes and cracks, especially active water leaks, with hydraulic cement. Seal floor-to-wall joints with hydraulic cement.

Application Conditions: Apply when air, substrate, and coating material temperatures are 10°C or higher. Ensure adequate ventilation by opening windows and doors, and use a non-sparking exhaust fan if necessary. Extinguish all flames and pilot lights.

Application: Stir thoroughly before and during use. Apply two coats. For the first coat, use a thick polyester bristle brush, or roll a small section (1m x 1m) and immediately work the coating into the masonry pores with a brush to ensure a continuous, pinhole-free film. For rolling, use a 25 mm nap roller for unpainted, porous surfaces and an 18 mm nap roller for smooth or previously painted surfaces. The second coat can be brushed or rolled.

Cleaning: Clean fresh spills and application tools with a rag and paint thinner (odourless mineral spirits are recommended to minimize solvent odours).

Important Remarks: ZINSSER® WATERTITE is not recommended for potable water tanks, cisterns, bird baths, swimming pools, or as a primer/finish on floors subject to foot traffic. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected within 24 hours of application.
